Collection: Aran Weight

Yarns in this category are heavier than Worsted but lighter than a true Chunky weight. Typically they have 110-140 yards per 100 grams.

In the past, I have worked with Aran weight Merino-Cashmere-Nylon blends, as well as Canadian pure untreated wool.

By far my favorite Aran weight yarn to date was Bamboo Aran, a sturdy 70/30 blend of extra-fine superwash merino and ethically sourced eucalyptus fibres (also known as Lyocell). The plant-based content of the yarn gave it greater strength and washability, a smooth softness next to the skin, and a silk-like metallic sheen which was especially good for adding dimension to textured knits.
