Typically we classify light-weight yarns as "sock" yarns if natural fibre is blended with nylon to increase durability and washability of high-wear items like socks.

Pure yarns made of all-natural fibres we usually classify as "fingering" or "sport" weight, and these are typically used to make shawls, lace, summer weight garments etc.
